Corning really shined in 2013! Let’s jump right into it. These are my 13 favorite things in (and around) Corning for 2013
13) Steuben County Library’s 3D Printer
I first saw the library’s 3D printer during Families Explore Science, at CMoG this fall. I felt like I was at the World’s Fair. This technology IS our future, from building machine parts to constructing affordable housing. With kids and adult programs at the Southeast Steuben County Library, locals have a chance to see this technology first-hand!
12) Brunch at The Cellar
While it’s only a seasonal occurrence, I fell in love with brunch at The Cellar. It’s great food, priced-right, and mimosas are $2. Read my full article about it here.
11) Wine and Design
I love Wine & Design. My new year’s resolution is to take more classes here… or drink more wine… oh what the heck, I’ll do both. Here’s my article about Wine & Design.
10) Fran’s Landing
Their food is awesome, the atmosphere is cozy, and the crowd is fun. Best clam strips in the area. Read my article on them here.
09) Poppleton’s Bakery & Cafe
I was a regular at Poppletons through both owners. ?The grilled Apple, Bourbon, Brie & Fig panini is to die for. Also, I never have to survive another hot summer day without bubble tea. Here’s an article I wrote, when the new owners took over.
08) Rockwell Museum Membership
I joined the Rockwell this year and It was one of my better decisions in 2013. Membership price pays for itself in margaritas, if you attend the Music & Margarita events. They have great events all year long, and their gallery had awesome traveling exhibits this year. Also great is their superior food spread during events. ?I wrote?this article about The Rockwell.
07) Dippity Do Dahs Ice Cream
Market Street’s local ice creamery totally rocks! They are even open all winter. Granted, they sell things like peanutbutter hot cocoa, but I’m still impressed with their ability to keep a crowd in the winter. Check out their facebook page.
06) Cache Me If You Can
This locally-made board game has become hit on a national and international scale. It’s a ton of fun, and with the new Zombie expansion pack, you’ll run out of brains before you run out of fun. See my full game review here.
05) Harvest Pub Crawl
I love Gaffer District events… particularly the ones that involve me wandering the streets with a beer or wine glass in-hand. My favorite this year was the Harvest Music Festival. I met up with a lot of new friends, some of whom I met through the blog! Read more about my Market Street shenanigan’s here.
04) TEDx Chemung River
It was a great experience. I made some friends, heard some great talks, and I’ll never ?miss another. Click here for my article.
03) Fiesta Brava
I used to be a Garcias guy… but I don’t need to drive all the way to Garcia’s now, because Fiesta Brava is my BFF, and it’s right here on Market St. ?Here’s what I liked about them.
02) The New Centerway Walking Bridge
The walking bridge has been reopened and it looks fantastic. The park setting is great for locals and tourists alike. Check out all of my new bridge photos here.
#1 Most Fun Small Town in America
Any show that Centre Stage Community Theater does!!! This past year was A Handful of Rainbows and Bus Stop!!! Next up in April is Whose Wives Are They Anyway!!!!!!
Awesome 🙂
