Happy Labor Day Weekend, friends! When you’re not at the lake or enjoying one last family BBQ of the summer, here’s a list of recommended activities to keep you entertained throughout the weekend.

Friday
Start the holiday weekend with Downtown Corning’s monthly Urban Arts Crawl. August’s Crawl features gallery openings and artist demos at 171 Cedar Arts Center and West End Gallery, respectively. The Rockwell Museum is offering a sneak peek at its newest initiative, Kid’s Rockwell Art?Lab, and our friends at The ARTS Council present? The Spaces Project, a series of site-specific dance pieces designed to explore different spaces throughout the Gaffer District. Conclude your Urban Arts Crawl at the Radisson Hotel Corning for dinner and drinks during the official Post-Crawl Social Meet-up.

Once you’ve had your fill at the Radisson, make your way across town to the Brick House Brewery. Friday night features live music from The Rightly So,?an acoustic Americana duo based in Buffalo.?Combining the sounds of classic folk and rock with a country feel, their soulful harmonies and familiar melodies create a sound that is unique and captivating, and definitely not an act that you’ll want to miss. They’re touring throughout the Northeast right now, and the next few stops are in Ohio, so we’re lucky to have them in Corning for the night.

Saturday
On Saturday, take a trip to Dansville Municipal Airport for the New York State Festival of Balloons. Celebrating its 36th year, this unique display of hot air balloons is a Labor Day tradition in the Southern Finger Lakes. The festival runs the entirety of Labor Day Weekend, and features various activities such as hot air balloon launches, tethered rides, live music, children’s entertainment, and more. Whether you dream of taking flight, or prefer to keep your feet planted firmly on the ground, head to Dansville this Labor Day Weekend for an unforgettable experience sure to be fun for the whole family.

Sunday
Sunday should be lake day. Make your way to Seneca Lake for an adrenaline filled experience at Watkins Glen International during the?Pirelli World Challenge at The Glen. Or, if auto racing isn’t your thing, head to Keuka Lake for a more relaxing Sunday afternoon. Join our friends at Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars for their 1886 Wine & Food Experience.?This experience includes an in depth tour of the most unique varieties grown in the winery’s vineyards, followed by a seated flight of unique wines paired with creative small foods.

Monday is your day to kick back, relax, and enjoy some local libations. Isn’t that really the whole point of Labor Day, after all? All of the regional wineries and breweries will be open business, providing delicious tastings, live music, great views, and more.
