Harvest is here. And no, we’re not talking about grapes – although the annual Finger Lakes Wine Country harvest is in full swing. The harvest we’re talking about is HARVEST, a one-day seasonal celebration hosted in the heart of Downtown Corning.

The event is held this Saturday, September 22, from 12-7pm. For those of you who are unaware, September 22 is also the Fall Equinox, or the First Day of Autumn.

This year’s HARVEST features complimentary wooden pumpkin painting, a scarecrow building challenge, a pie contest, tractor displays, and other family friendly harvest-inspired activities. Gaffer District restaurants will put their best soups to the test in an inaugural soup-off, and patrons will be able to enjoy seasonal foods at long community tables situated up and down Market Street. A special Farmers Market will also be available – perfect for people who have difficulty visiting it during it’s regular Thursday hours.

Finally, it wouldn’t be a festival without a series of performances by local and regional musicians. Visitors will have not one, but three opportunities to enjoy live music while they stroll Market Street. The performances are as follows:

Centerway Stage
12:30-1:45 PM “Rebecca and The Soul Shakers
2:15-3:30 PM   “Me & Red”
4:00-5:15 PM  “Uptown Groove”
5:45-7:00 PM  “The Town Pants”

Val Reep Fountain Stage (Near Market Street Brewing Co.):
12:00-1:15 PM “Brian Murphy”  (Xylophone)
1:45-3:00 PM “Brothers Grateful”
3:30-4:45 PM  “Elmer Darlin’ Duo”
5:15-6:30 PM “Art & Noah Blues”

Centennial Sculpture Stage (near Radisson Hotel):
1:00-2:30 PM  “Wise Guys”
3:00-4:30 PM  “Mama Tried”
5:00-6:30 PM  “Pat Comstock”

Additional street entertainment includes face painting, wagon rides, musicians, and exhibits featuring live farm animals.

HARVEST is hosted by Corning’s Gaffer District. Learn more about this year’s celebration and view a complete event schedule, HERE.
