Spring has finally broken, and as we emerge from our huts, we are going to find a BOOMING Market St. A lot happened during the long winter; from remodeled stores to completely new businesses, this is a great year to be a local in Corning, NY.
A couple years ago, local gift shop Beyond Baskets introduced a juice bar. It was so popular that they had to shut down a few times for light remodeling (to add seating). Their menu grew to include healthy and delicious foods, and they eventually closed for a major remodel. When they reopened, they didn’t have just a great new interior, but also a new name, The Market Street Source, and a full menu of unique and healthy foods! [Long before Beyond Baskets, this same family ran a local food and cheese store on Market St, also called The Source -?check out the “Our Story” page on their website.]
Their menu is original, fresh, and delicious. They have a ton of fresh juices, smoothies, salads, hot & cold sandwiches, wraps, desserts, and specialty coffees. For a while after they opened as The Source, I kept thinking of it as Beyond Baskets, and it wasn’t on my lunch radar. Well, don’t make the same mistake as me, only to find out you’re moving to the other side of the country with limited time to TOTALLY HOUSE a few grilled Turkey Strawberry Brie sandwiches (my favorite).
The Source has one of the best looking store fronts on Market St and the interior is now more open, has plenty of seating, and they still carry the Beyond Baskets flag, stocking unique gifts, homemade chocolates, and fresh produce. This is exactly the type of locally-owned store that gives Corning its reputation for being a unique and fun small town (actually, the MOST FUN small town in America)
Birthday Party!
The Source is having their second annual Birthday Party on April 25th from 5-8. This also doubles as a fundraiser for the local YEA program. It’s only $15 ($20 at the door) and includes “TONS OF FOOD” from local culinary artists. Check out more of the deets here.
