If I wasn’t an emotionless robot, I would likely be teared up about the fact that DeClemente’s is leaving Market St, and moving to the Airport as their only location (I hope they have the Pittsburgh Salad, my favorite). I started working full-time on Market St over a year ago, just a couple doors down from DeClemente’s, and I quickly became a breakfast / lunch regular.
If it wasn’t for DeClemente’s, I’m not sure where this blog would be today… A year ago, I was in the process of re-launching UrbanCorning.com – a reboot with a new format, new writing style, new look, new… everything. I was mulling over what my first post was going to be about, but nothing was clicking… Until I went into DeClemente’s one fateful morning, and left with what would be my first article. To this day, it remains one of the most popular posts on UrbanCorning: The Day I Accidentially Robbed DeClemente’s.
After countless breakfasts, lunches, and being my secret little spot for cheap (but great) dinner-dates, DeCelmente’s ends its run as a Market Street’s lunch icon, with a final dinner service during?Sparkle on Dec. 7th. ?I don’t care how long the line is, I’ll be there, and for old time’s sake, I’ll be wearing my ski mask.
