The Fingerlakes Grassroots Festival starts next week (July 21st-24th). Online ticket sales are closed, but you can purchase at the gate ($30-$45), or at various stores (listed here). I’m going to try to make it up for 1 of the 4 days. Even though on-site camping is sold-out, off-site areas are still available to be purchased at the gate for $80. However, if you need tickets to on-site camping or a vehicle camping pass, you can find some on the Ithaca Craigslist.
There’s a big list of performers, so if there’s someone you just can’t miss, make sure to check the performance schedule. Friday and Saturday have the most shows, and I see there are some Yoga classes in the morning that might be fun with a big group (or annoying).
If your looking to visit for free, consider volunteering. There’s a minimum of 12 hours, and even though there is a wait-list for most positions, you can probably get in with a “high need” crew. I’m not sure what positions are “high need,” but I’m thinking that’s probably trash patrol. 12 hours of work for a 4 day festival is pretty sweet. Call the volunteer department at 607-387-7764.
